We had the on-location services by the Consular Division of the Embassy of Japan in the gymnasium of the Newport News Japanese School. The event was very convenient for Japanese in this area, because they could renew their passport, register for overseas election, making it unnecessary to go to Washington DC. According to staff members of the Consular Division of Embassy of Japan, almost 60 people take advantage of the service annually. It exceeded 80 this year. In addition, a large number of people registered for overseas election.
A used book fair and bazaar was also held by the Newport News Japanese School. Many people lined up before the doors opens at 9:30 a.m.
